Om Shala Yoga

Emily Cooper-Hertel

Emily Cooper-Hertel found yoga with curiosity for the depth of inner peace and strength she sensed from others she knew who practiced. She explored various forms of vinyasa starting in 2012, yet her foundations in a strong yoga practice were set with Ashtanga and Hatha yoga during her formative 20’s while briefly living in Portland, Oregon. She found much needed refuge in the magic of intentional breath with movement. Over the years, her relationship with yoga continually deepens as yogic philosophy is increasingly woven into her practice both on and off the mat. Emily completed the Tosha Yoga Teacher Training with Suzanne Dunning in 2025, whose teachings are inspired by the T.K.V. Desikachar lineage.

As an ecologist by trade, her work ultimately aims to support an ecosystem’s capacity for self renewal. She sees many parallels between that and the work of yoga, as yoga indeed fosters our own capacity for self renewal. Moreover, since recently becoming a new mother, she has found strength, healing, and grounding with reverence through yoga as an integral component of daily life. Emily is grateful for the opportunity to share the beauty of yoga with you!
